Today's blog post was inspired by a recent article written by Ethan Vanderbuilt called, "MOBE Scam Shutdown For Bilking $125 Million From Victims". In Ethan's article, he details the way in which the FTC has determined My Online Business Empire (MOBE), to be a scam and has had its assets frozen in a unanimous five to zero vote. This scam is referred to as a "business coaching scheme" The scam involves an endless recruitment scheme in which members get introduced to the program through online advertisements on social media. The advertisements are designed to lure new prospects into an "education system" that offers the opportunity to teach new members how to make thousands of dollars. The way in which they make thousands of dollars is by finding new people to enter the "education system" by purchasing advertisements for "MOBE". The "MOBE" costs can be exorbitant, ranging from nearly two thousand dollars to twenty-five thousand dollars, and this does not include the monthly fees. The more money you pay for the training, the larger commissions you will receive when new members pay for their "education system".
If you have been following this blog for a while, then you will see this "education system" looks similar to the other "education systems" Brandon Odom has designed for selling "Enagic". That's mainly due to the fact that Brandon Odom was a member of "MOBE" and there are videos of him promoting the platform. Here is the video:
The funniest part is the comment section in which Brandon has tried to get this video removed. He doesn't want people to make money from his content, unless he is also making money from it.
This is not the first FTC victory against "business coaching schemes", and it looks like they are going to take a more aggressive approach against these people. This type of fraud has been around for centuries, and even though this version involves "webinars" and social media, the hallmark characteristics remain the same as any other consumer fraud. There is a confidence person providing a worthless product or service that is designed to deceptively take money from unwitting participants. In this particular instance, "MOBE" as well as Brandon Odom have provided an "education system" that does not provide any real education or teaching that will help a person earn "thousands of dollars". Instead, the "education system" is a pay-to-play fee used as an entry to an endless recruiting scheme. The "education system" is an unnecessary addition to the fraud and it is designed to obfuscate the real "business opportunity".
This new FTC victory against "MOBE" may be the first step toward Brandon Odom and his "The Ace Initiative" buddies being caught for scamming others. I had previously given Brandon credit for creating "Team Phoenix Marketing", but he had only copied "MOBE" and "GAZ" (Global Affiliate Zone). He hasn't created a "business opportunity" or a unique "education system" that will make his members wealthy, and he has continued to profit from rather than enrich the people that have trusted his programs. Hopefully this video connecting Brandon to the "MOBE" scam will help direct attention to his other "businesses".

This just keeps getting better and better,
ReplyDeleteMOBE has had some very shady points, the guy running it moved to other countries because it was illegal in the one he is living in. As for Brandon, I wonder if this is the experiance that he uses in the sob stories for the webinars.
From the looks of it, it seems he has hyped up an MLM, then eventually destroy all evidence and spin it off. We have seen that with Team Phoenix and Digital Genius Lab. Surprised no one has commented yet.

DeleteBrandon Odom is turning into a career charlatan, much like Eric Worre and Jeff Olson. The way in which he is evolving from being a member of a "business coaching scam" to copying and running his own version is similar to the Eric Worre, "Network Marketing Pro" story.
These people won't stop until they are forced to stop. They have no moral compass, and they will continue to lie and deceive to serve their own interests.
The Brandon Odom posts are the most popular on this blog. I'm sure it is only a matter of time until someone, maybe even Brandon himself, comes by and leaves a comment.
But what if they just started being honest with people, what if they just came out and said exactly what was going on?
ReplyDeletebecause for me, the only thing that i see wrong with all of this, and its a big wrong, is all the lies and deseption, but honestly speaking, once you remove all the glits and glamour of them simply trying to trap you, there is still something of incredible value.
The compensation plan.
As far as all my research and readings have gone and from my personal knowledge and experiense, the compensation plan enagic has in place is what is sitting pretty, but because of all the lies and misleading sales tarctics it has been soiled.

DeleteThen they would be out of business. Nobody would take this "business opportunity" or "business coaching scam" seriously if they knew the truth. Could you imagine if they said, "I have a business opportunity that makes less than 1% of people very rich, and you can do it without my coaching, but I would really like you to pay for my $99.00 a month package as well". Imagine the laughter that would follow.

A couple of things here. First, why would they be using lies and deception if the "service" has "incredible value"? Second, the compensation plan for "Enagic" has nothing to do with "The Ace Initiative", and you do not have to be a part of "The Ace Initiative" if you want to be a part of "Enagic". "The Ace Initiative" offers nothing of value to the "Enagic" business plan, and is simply a parasite that leaches off of "Enagic" by offering a bogus "coaching system".

Again, why would there need to be "lies and misleading sales tarctics [sic]", if the compensation plan is good? I don't believe there is any "research and readings" that have helped determine this compensation plan is anything other than a pyramid scheme. I believe your "personal knowledge and experiense [sic]" is making you financially biased to say "Engaic" is good.
I encourage you to take the time to read the FTC's rules and regulations about MLM and pyramid schemes. They also have many court cases from past litigation brought against MLMs available. As of today, the FTC has won 100% of the cases they have brought against MLMs.
Brandon won't come here to comment. His ass is in a sling after this recent decision, and he's go too much legal red tape to deal with at this point.

DeleteI'm not sure I understand. Brandon has already left a comment on the original post. Why wouldn't he come and leave more comments?
Brandon's entire rhetorical approach is merely glitz and razzle-dazzle -- that is, pumping silly people up with mindless enthusiasm. He doesn't deal in fact or arguments, but in simple propaganda that plays upon hopes and dreams.
DeleteFor this reason I doubt he will come back here to try and argue against the you. Besides, his presence here only draws attention to your trenchant critique of the entire racket. That's the last thing he wants.
Wonderful goods from you, man. I've understand your
ReplyDeletestuff previous to and you are just extremely excellent.
I really like what you have acquired here, certainly like what you are stating and the way in which you say it.
You make it enjoyable and you still care for to keep it smart.
I cant wait to read far more from you. This is actually a terrific site.
Is it possible to claim back money invested in Mobe?
ReplyDeleteDoes a group exist with individuals with the same intentions?
Hi Roy,
DeleteSorry, but I have no idea. That is something you will have to Google.
